We have talked about it on this blog. We've chatted about it in email. I've had it on my to do list for months. Six months to be exact, ever since Haiti's devestating earthquake. They just passed the 6 month anniversary this week. WATW-R (We are the World-Report) was thought of and named after the group of us, MJ fans from around the world, starting talking about joining together to report on things in our own countries, so that when help was needed, we could all rise to help.
The first time I realized the new friends in my life was when our first thoughts after hearing of the earthquake in Chile, were of the safety of Byfepo and Paly. The time has come for us to take our first step. Baby step, fine. We must take the step.
The Opus issues were time consuming, but they should not have been our primary focus. That is my fault. Time was of the essence to get the MJ Opus into the hands of the customers who paid money for them, but helping our fellow brothers and sisters should ALWAYS be our NUMBER ONE priority.
So, today we start a new day. A new leaf. Here's our first official action! Our IACOP member living in this region is MiMi. Many of you don't know who the team was who helped me so much with the legal issues regarding Opus. It was MiMi. In her honor and as a heartfelt thank you, we are starting with NOLA. (NOLA = New Orleans Louisiana)
There is a Free Medical Clinic on August 31 and September 1st, in the New Orleans area which is sponsored solely on donations. The timing is set to the 5th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, which ravaged the area then and the affects still are felt today. Now, the people of New Orleans must also deal with the Gulf Oil Spill. This is only for those people WITHOUT medical insurance.
Here's what you do:
1. Send a card/letter with a message of HOPE, L.O.V.E. and CONCERN for those in the New Orleans area. Sign the card with only "It's all for L.O.V.E." No name. Also write "It's all for L.O.V.E." on the outside envelope (no return address).
2. Include ONE DOLLAR (or whatever your currency) in the card/letter. They can exchange it.
3. Spread the message Ask your friends, family, neighbors and coworkers if they have ONE DOLLAR to spare to include in your card. If you have already sent it, send another, repeating the signature "It's all for L.O.V.E."
If you don't write English, see a translator tool here or Google's here. Don't worry about what you write, just write from your heart. You can email me for help too if you want! (email@example.com) Or just sign the card "It's all for L.O.V.E.".
The address to mail our cards and letters is here:
The National Association of Free Clinics
ATTN: NEW ORLEANS CLINIC
1800 Diagonal Road Suite 600
Alexandria VA 22314
Here is the information on the Medical Clinic Association... and this information is credible. (Keith Olbermann of MSNBC is the one who relays the information to his viewers). You can make a donation specifically for NEW ORLEANS FREE CLINIC online here.
Times are tough for all of us, but one dollar at a time, one MJ fan at a time, we CAN change the world... and make it a better place to be. By mailing the cards, with personal messages, we reach out and touch a person. They will hold in their hand a message from a stranger from another land who cared enough to think of them. HOPE. Let's spread the L.O.V.E.
Get your cards and pens ready everyone! WE WILL MAKE A CHANGE. We've looked at the man in the mirror long enough! Time to get to work!
And if you need motivation, here's the Man himself to help you along!
